NTTC #5 July 2009 Roundup

I am a little late in compiling the roundup for NTTC July 2009, I finally succumbed to the flu after 3 years of being fit as a fiddle and going through one amazing pregnancy, I was finally bitten by the bug and it hit hard, so hard that Nick had to take time off from work because I was barely able to open my eyes. A week of feeling like that and I am raring to go. Hopefully I can put in another 3 years before I let that bug catch up with me again.

NTTC July 2009 was an egg challenge. The idea was to come up with fantastic, quick and healthy recipes using an egg and fresh produce and pantry staples. The winner was going to be judged on the most creative recipe, how quick it was and how healthy. We had six lovely entries for the event.

Lili from Pikelet And Pie sent in her Asian Style Fried Eggs.

Denise and Lenny sent in their delightful Frisee With Lardons on Poached Egg.

My Experiments And Food sent in the super quick Breakfast Microwave Eggs.

Praveen Reginald sent in The Perfect Omelette.

Sudeshna Banerjee sent in her recipe for Scrambled Eggs Indian Style.

Cathy sent in her recipe for Shrimp Omelette.

Aahh decisions, decisions! I loved them all, I am such a sucker for egg. You put egg in anything and I’ll eat it, I kid you not! Absolutely anything! I read and re-read all the recipes and narrowed them down to two I felt embodied the spirit of NTTC perfectly. I picked the winner based on creativity in bringing together the flavors, keeping things simple and as close to nature as intended which resulted in a healthy, aesthetically pleasing recipe that cooked in under 5 minutes, preparation and all [I tried it!. The winner of NTTC July 2009 is ….

LILI of PIKELET & PIE for her ASIAN STYLE FRIED EGGS

I hereby award you the SPOONBEARER BADGE. Wear it proudly and keep making the world a healthier place, one recipe at a time!
