Place the flour, salt and cream of tartar in a large bowl. Add water and oil. Mix well. Turn the dough out onto a smooth surface and knead well for 2-3 minutes.

To add the colour to playdough, separate the dough and then add a few drops of food colouring. Knead each portion separately to make different coloured playdough.
