| I have been saving up this recipe for a while and want to try it out one of these days. It sounds yummy and healthy. |
| |
| Ingredients |
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup corn meal
2 tbsp applesauce
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup honey
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1 egg |
| Method | Sift together corn meal, flour, baking powder and salt. Add remaining ingredients and mix well with a spoon. Pour into a 9" round, greased baking dish or a standard sized loaf tin. Bake at 350oC for 25 minutes, or until golden brown. |
| | Serving suggestions |
| Serve hot with chicken stew or pumpkin soup. |
| | Gel's Notes |
| Molasses may be substituted for honey and soy milk for milk to make this bread more healthy. | | Milk/soy milk is used to make the bread moist and dense. It adds a wonderful full-bodies texture after baking. | |
