| Ingredients |
| For The Batter |
|
1 cup plain flour
|
|
3/4 cup granulated sugar
|
|
3 tbsp cocoa powder
|
|
1/2 cup milk
|
|
1/3 cup softened butter
|
|
2 tsp baking powder
|
|
1/4 tsp salt
|
|
2 tsp vanilla essence | | For The Sauce |

1 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
|
|
1/2 cup granulated sugar
|
|
4 tbsp cocoa powder
|
|
1 1/4 cup hot water |

| Method |
Heat oven to 180oC. In a medium bowl, combine 3/4 cup granulated sugar, flour, 3 tbsp cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Blend in milk, melted butter and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Pour batter into a 8 or 9" square baking pan. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 1/2 cups brown sugar and 4 tbsp cocoa powder. Sprinkle mixture, evenly, over the batter. Pour the hot water over the top; do not stir. Bake 35 to 40 minutes in a 180oC oven or until center is almost set. Stand for 15 minutes. Spoon into dessert dishes, spooning sauce from bottom of pan over top. |
