Fun Food Facts
Artificial color additives are not permitted in chicken feed. Yolk color depends on the diet of the hen. Feed containing yellow corn or alfalfa produces medium yellow yolks while feed containing wheat or barely produces lighter color yolks. Natural yellow-orange substances such as marigold petals may be added to light colored feeds to enhance the yolk color.

2 medium granny smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into wedges
   1/2 drained, pitted black cherries
   1/3 rice flour
   1/4 cup cornflour
60 g butter, chilled and cubed
   1/2 cup caster sugar
   1/2 cup cold water
   a pinch of salt
whipped or fresh cream to serve
Method

Preheat oven to 220oC. Combine the rice floyr, cornflour and salt in a bowl. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add the sugar and water and stir to combine. [Dont worry if the mixture appears curdled].

Arrange the apples and cherries in the base of a 4cm deep, 20cm round ovenproof dish. Pour the flour mixture evenly over the apples and cherries. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden. Serve immediately topped with cream.
