| Classic Cranberry Sauce |

| I found this interesting and useful recipe in an old issue of Australian 'delicious' magazine. It piqued my interest as we have been using store-bought cranberry jelly over the years and the idea of fresh cranberry sauce cooked with spices sounds special. |

| Ingredients |

1 1/2 cups dry red wine
|
|
1 cup caster sugar
|
|
6 cloves
|
|
6 allspice berries
|
|
2 cinnamon sticks
|
|
1 strip orange peel
|
|
275g whole-berry cranberry sauce
|
|
300g frozen cranberries, thawed |

| Method | | Combine all ingredienst except sauce and cranberries in a saucepan. Bring to boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Strain and return to pan, discarding solids. Add the cranberry sauce and cranberries. Stir over low heat to dissolve the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes. Pour into a serving dish and cool. |
