| Char Sieu or Char Siew is a very popular delicacy in China. I love it best as Char Siew Buns, little white fluffy steamed buns filled with ooey gooey sweet and savoury char siew. |

| Ingredients |
1 kg pork loin
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp tomato sauce
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1/4 cup sherry
2 tbsp honey melted in 1/2 cup hot water |
| Method |
Cut pork into 2 inch thick strips. Rub in salt. Marinate in hoisin sauce, sugar, soy sauce, tomato sauce, garlic and sherry for 1 hour.
Brush on melted honey, then barbecue, roast or hang pork strips with hooks from the top shelf in the oven, with a pan below to catch the drippings. Cook for 40 minutes at moderate temperature. Serve as is with steamed rice or chop and use as filling in other Asian dishes. |
